It’s always smoothie season here at AK. There’s truly nothing like a cold, refreshing smoothie on a hot summer day (or really any day), which is why I rounded up over 30 healthy smoothie recipes to make and fall in love with.
I’ve included a delicious mix of green smoothies, ones with and without banana (per reader requests!), high protein smoothies that are perfect post-workout, and pretty much every other flavor in between. The AK team makes a variation of these healthy smoothies almost weekly and tops them with our favs like chia seeds, coconut flakes, and homemade granola. They truly make the best breakfasts and snacks around!

Our fav smoothie ingredients
The flavor options are truly endless when it comes to crafting your perfect smoothie. You’ll find everything from a classic strawberry banana smoothie to one that tastes like carrot cake and everything in between. Here are some of our fav fruits & mix-ins to add to smoothies to give them flavor & sweetness, plus a boost of essential vitamins, minerals & nutrients like fiber, protein, fatty acids, and more:
- Fruits: banana, strawberries, blueberries, cherries, pineapple, mango, oranges, peaches, avocado.
- Veggies: spinach, kale, cauliflower, butternut squash, carrots, zucchini.
- Protein: greek yogurt, protein powder (I like Four Sigmatic and Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides), peanut butter (and all nut butters), nuts.
- Nutritional boosters: chia seeds, hemp seeds, oats, fresh ginger, turmeric, flax seeds, or flaxseed meal.
- For blending: I prefer using dairy-free milk (like coconut milk or unsweetened almond milk) over fruit juices, but you can use any milk you’d like.
- For topping: I love to top my smoothies or smoothie bowls with extra seeds, fruit, nut butter, or homemade granola!
You’ll notice that my smoothie recipes don’t typically use ice cubes for blending, but rather frozen fruit, so that the smoothie gets a creamy texture and stays cold without getting watery.
